20-Minute Weeknight Tacos
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended for the best flavor)
- 1 tbsp avocado oil
- ⅓ cup finely diced yellow onion
- ½ can (7–8 oz) fire-roasted diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp Kairos Old Mexico Taco Seasoning
- 2–3 tbsp water
- Corn or flour tortillas, warmed
- Toppings of choice (cilantro, lime, avocado, cheese, salsa, etc.)
- Kairos Sriracha Sea Salt, for finishing
Instructions
1. Build the crust
Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Add avocado oil, then add the ground beef.
Press the beef firmly into the pan, creating an even layer with maximum contact between the meat and the skillet. Let it cook undisturbed for about 3 minutes until a deep golden-brown crust forms.
Flip the beef and cook another 2–3 minutes on the second side.
The color is where the flavor comes from. Don’t break up the beef too early—let the sear develop first.
2. Add the taco flavors
Once the beef is mostly cooked, break it apart with a spatula.
Add the diced onion and cook for 1–2 minutes until softened.
Stir in the fire-roasted tomatoes, Kairos Old Mexico Taco Seasoning, and water. Mix everything together and let simmer for another 2–3 minutes until the flavors come together.
3. Finish and serve
Warm your tortillas and fill them with the seasoned beef.
Finish with a sprinkle of Kairos Sriracha Sea Salt for a final hit of heat and flavor.
Add your favorite taco toppings and serve immediately.
Pro Tips
- Use a cast iron skillet if you have one. The heat retention helps create the crispy beef crust that makes these tacos special.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan. If doubling the recipe, cook the beef in batches so it can properly sear.
- Let the seasoning shine. Kairos Old Mexico Taco Seasoning is made with real ingredients and no fillers or artificial flavors, so a little goes a long way.
